Feedback : Asian Paints’ Home Solutions
October 4, 2007
If you are planning to get your home painted through Asian Paints’ Home Solutions, then think again. I was carried away by their impressive advertising in newspapers just as you might have been. All it took was images of houses painted with bright colors and a toll free number to call them when we decided to get our apartment in Bangalore before renting out again. I called them which was promptly answered by a lady who asked for details such as the location, area of the house, surface (outer/inner walls) to be painted and other standard questions that I provided. She promised that someone would call up within 48 hours to fix an appointment to inspect the site and get further details. She was insistent on getting all our contact numbers - residence and two mobile numbers. No call came even after a week. So, when V called up again, she confirmed all our details was resting in their database and had no proper explanation as to why no one got back. This time we were assured of a positive response. It’s been a month since the incident. After such a irresponsible way of conducting business we decided not to go ahead with Asian Paint’s. Further inquiry also revealed that they do a bad job of completing the work undertaken. The quote agreed upon is never the final one and I believe client’s are harassed to pay more or stay with a job half done! So much for the brand name..

Our experience has been so harrowing to say the least! We live in Mumbai and had given advance cheques worth Rs 35, 187 to a Vivek Bhuvad (Team Leader) and Rs 3,500 to Ganesh Magar (Contractor) on 15th September 2009. Our work was supposed to start on 19th September 2009 and end in 18 days. The work started but steadily degenerated.
The workers were doing a shoddy job, very bad workmanship and finishing. The paint shade put from the same can did not match in the drawing room and guest rooms! Brush strokes can be seen clearly. The paint at some places is already chipping off and the plaster can be seen. We tried to inform Vivek and Ganesh several times. However they either do not take calls, or give excuses for the bad performance.
The person responsible for paint selection, Ajay, was not even coming to our place so that we could tell him what colors we wanted. He passed on a message to us that we could tell the painters what colors we wanted. Eventually we forced him to visit us and said that we would tell only him what paints we wanted since that was his job.
The last straw is that since 5th October 2009 the workers are not even coming. We got through to this guy Vivek on the phone finally on the night of 6th October who managed to contact one of the painters as the contractor, Ganesh was not taking his calls. The painter informed Vivek that they had been put on another job.
We are extremely upset by this extreme lack of discipline, accountability, professionalism and responsibility on the part of Asian Paints and the team that has been coordinating our project.
We are wondering how long we shall have to sit and wait at home for the painters to come and do a decent job for which we have already paid Rs 38,687. We are supposed to pay a balance of Rs 4,000 to Ganesh after the work was completed, which by the way he was asking us to pay him on 27 September 2009 itself!
This is so much hassle for professionals like us who have to go to work everyday!
